Concept of Coaching
Career coaching is one-on-one assistance with your career development. It takes the past into consideration but focuses more on developing future strategies that will empower the client to achieve their goals while being true to their values. Coaching will help you shake off the cob webs on the skills you have hidden to help you get where you want to go. Coaching will help you grow as a person and a professional. It will also help you identify your potential and set your sights higher than ever before. You will feel motivated and in control of your destiny.

“I will recommend Career Minded coaching because I feel that I got life changing help, or strategies that not all people have been exposed to or know about.” Corrie Cole, Teacher

Reasons clients have sought coaching:
Clients turn to coaching when they need clarity and focus on their career development, have lost their job, had to move, have suffered an injury and can’t return to their old job, want to re-enter the workforce or have had other life changing events such as the death of a spouse or a divorce that has created a need for self sufficiency.

“I have spent years uncovering the passion in my life, now Joni has given me the tools to make that passion more viable.”
Nancy Welsh, Producer

How is the coaching experience structured?

Various arrangements can be made. The initial meeting will help determine the coaching program that best suits your needs.

Career Exploration Coaching Program– when you don’t know the job/career/industry you want or want to improve your job satisfaction within your current job (e.g. improve interpersonal relationships, get promoted etc.).

  1. An initial in-person meeting
  2. Email assignments, assessments and weekly coaching calls until you have determined your career goals.
  3. A 2.5 hour action planning session to create a plan to accomplish a short-term goal by then end of the 3 month period.
  4. Weekly calls help keep you on track with your plan.
  5. Celebration and reflection on achieving your first short-term goal! You are now able to set, create a plan and achieve any goal you set your mind to!
  6. Go it on your own or continue with coaching program to achieve further goals or start a Job Search Coaching Program.

Job Search Coaching Program – when you know the job/career you want but need guidance to get there

  1. An initial in-person meeting
  2. Resume and cover letter review, email assignments to improve your marketability and weekly coaching calls until you have completed the preparations for active job searching.
  3. A 2.5 hour action planning session to create a job search plan.
  4. Weekly calls help keep you on track with your plan.
  5. The time it takes to find work is based on three main factors: your commitment to the plan (time and energy), the job market in your chosen field or industry and your ability to sell yourself to potential employers.

"I got the position! I got the highest mark on the interview, so they offered me the job. I totally accepted! Thank you so much for your help. I couldn't have done it without those practice sessions and all your insight! More importantly, you helped me realize that if I want something bad enough all I have to do is pull out all the stops and do whatever it takes to get where I want to be. I hope I can keep on applying that from here on in!" Tony Brown, Forensic Scientist

How much does coaching cost?

The cost of coaching is $250 CAD per month for the first 3 months. If you decide to continue with coaching past the initial 3 month period (or return to coaching in the future), then the fee is $200 CAD per month.

A commitment of 3 months is required initially so that substantial progress can be made with your coaching. After the initial 3 month period, you decide if you want to continue on a month to month basis.
